Welcome to Southwestern Community Unit School District #9. The majority of our student population lives in the towns of Brighton, Medora, Piasa, and Shipman which are located in Macoupin, Jersey, and Greene counties. Our district consists of five facilities that house over 1,550 students in Pre-K through twelfth grade.

Our goal of providing a safe environment while educating our students requires a team approach from school, home, and our communities. Southwestern is fortunate to possess a faculty and staff that take great pride in ensuring the safety of our students while maximizing their academic potential. Second, our students receive tremendous love and support from their parents as they develop from a child into a young adult. Lastly, our students enjoy incredible support and recognition from our communities for their academic and extra-curricular activities. As a result, our students are able to grow and mature into outstanding young men and women.

Student success and school pride are a long standing tradition in the Southwestern School District and continue to thrive today. Student success requires hard work, dedication, and school spirit. Southwestern possesses all of these qualities and as a result, our TEAM is able to provide our students with a safe and quality education!
